Comments on: Nonprofit vs. For Profit, or Both?

We are creating a for-profit art gallery and studio but plan to add a non-profit component for community art classes later. I understand these must be separate entities, with separate accounts and books. Can we construct the initial umbrella website as dreamtimearts.org with different links to (1) gallery and (2) programs — or do we need completely seperate and different websites for each?

I love what you’re doing. I am currently trying to get 501 status for a musician who is doing great charity work. The IRS has challenged the need for a musician to be a non-profit and asked for a case study to support my position. Are you aware of any I could referance?
